Sertaline

I found this a little bizarre and wondered what you guys think. I went to my GP to make the first steps to get back in touch with my psychiatrist the other day having just moved back to blighty less then a week ago.

My doctor observed I had been on Sertraline before (amongst other things) and offered to write me out a prescription, I said that I was on St Johns Wort and had yet to have the chance to think about if I wanted to go back on an anti depressent,he respected this and asked me some more questions and listetend to me for a few more minutes before handing me a prescription for Sertraline.

I just got the vibe as I have before when visting my GP that they are so snowed under with patients that they seem to be typing your prescription before you have got both feet in their room. Does anyone else find this?.

Im still not sure on the Sertraline, the Johns Wort is helping me somewhat after everything I have gone through of late. I don't remeber Sertraline doing much for me in the past, what are your guys experience's with it????

If your talking about Sertraline then thats another name for zoloft. If you haven't had much luck with it then try a differnt ssri like paxil or luvox. I personally didn't like zoloft but everyone reacts differently to meds.

SO FAR I'm having a decent response to Zoloft and NO side effects. Started at 50mg, increased to 75 a week ago, and will incrase tomorrow to my (hopefully) final level of 100mg.

I do know what you mean, though, about doctors writing prescriptions willy-nilly. Do you have OCD? I'm taking zoloft because I was having trouble doing my ERP exposures and the zoloft is a means to working through the cognitive behavioral therapy. It has made me somewhat more relaxed, though. It took me a year to decide to start taking meds... although part of the delay in my case was that I was nursing my daughter and didn't want to expose her to any medications. I am glad I started zoloft. I'd recommend CBT too, though.
