Documantary about OCD (can be seen in UK only)
Hi,
I saw this documentary on tv before and I I was really touched by it since i for the first time saw a ocd documentary talk to people with pocd and not just people with counting and checking disorders (as most documentaries are about). After seeing it on tv I tried finding it online. Unfortunately it can only be seen in the UK because of some license. Anyways, I know there are a coplu of UK'ers here so I thought I'd share it :] The documentary: Touch wood |

Nice to see a programme taking on the widespread anything-is-possible nature of obsessions.
Wish more time was spent on the therapy options, but it was a much more thoughtful doc than many.

And yeah, I also found it very thoughtful, these guys really knew what they were talking about. They were not just telling it from some informative perspective on what ocd is, but really had an understanding for how the ocd actually works and the entirle cycle of it. |

well the documentary I linked (not sure how the link works for you guys) but is the one called Touch wood. (just so I know we're talking bout the same one ^^). In it they never actually used the term "pocd" since its just a term dr phillipson has come up with but I could see that many of these people had some sort of pocd. For example the girl that had the fear of turning into a slutty and bad girl. I used to have similiar thought thinking that If I would become more social than I am I would discover a new me that I would sort of morph in to. A super-social evil person that wouldnt feel she needed her boyfriend anymore. This is not anything tangible, it is just a what-ifthought that we ( her and me) battle only in our minds making it into "pocd" as dr phillipson would call it :]. |

The doc speaks breifly about sexual obsessions without going into detail.
At least they mentioned them, along with harming obsessions and the range of themes that the first girl interviewed has. I don't think it matters if they specifically talk about molestation obsessions or not, as I feel that those with that spike theme would only want to see it in a doc to feel 'normal' and a sense of relief; and we all know that won't last at all.
